Intern Diary: Sofie
As I reflect on my internship at JMG Public Relations, I am so grateful for an experience that has shaped me both personally and professionally. I first heard about JMG through Mizzou’s PRSSA chapter and a student who spoke so highly of the program. After hearing about her great experience as an intern, I knew I wanted to apply, and I’m so glad I did!
From the start, I was welcomed into the team and trusted with responsibilities that gave me real insight into the PR world. Whether it was drafting media lists, writing email pitches, conducting research, or seeing client placements come to life, I was able to gain hands-on experience in every part of the PR cycle. I didn’t just learn what PR was, but I got to experience the fast-paced, creative, and collaborative environment firsthand.
What made this internship even more meaningful was the mentorship and support I received. Elyssa, Julia, and the entire team were generous with their time and guidance, always encouraging me to ask questions and take initiative. Their feedback gave me confidence and helped me better understand the skills it takes to thrive in this industry. And of course, the connections I built with my fellow interns made this experience even better.
Looking back, interning at JMG was the perfect way to close out my sophomore year and prepare for the future. This opportunity reminded me of why I love PR, because of the people, stories, and connections. As I head into my junior year at Mizzou, I’ll carry the lessons, skills, and confidence I’ve gained here with me.
I am so thankful to the JMG team for believing in me and giving me such a meaningful start to my PR journey!
