Intern Diary: Rylee Kelly

Looking back on my semester with JMG PR as a PR intern, I’ve reflected on what has been an incredible and rewarding internship. I first discovered JMG through the University of Rhode Island’s PRSSA chapter and after researching and discovering their all-female team and reading the intern diaries, each filled with nothing but positive experiences, I knew I had to apply!

From the start, I was welcomed and felt like a part of the team.

I was trusted with real responsibilities that offered me valuable insights to the PR world, gained hands-on experience, and allowed me to directly contribute to the team. Whether it was building media lists, writing follow-up pitches or summarizing client placements, I got the chance to build my PR skills.

My experience was made even better by my supervisor, Elyssa, who was so encouraging throughout my entire internship. With Elyssa’s guidance, I grew more confident in my writing and gained a stronger understanding of how the PR world works. Her feedback helped me better understand the skills you need for the PR industry as well as ways to improve my PR skills. When balancing my JMG responsibilities, being a division 1 athlete, and my school schedule, Elyssa was nothing but supportive.

What truly makes JMG different from other remote internships, is the culture. Thanks to “Sip the Tea” and end-of-the-day calls, I never felt disconnected from the team and was able to create memories that will last a lifetime. Getting to intern in a supportive and positive environment, made this experience unforgettable!

I am so grateful for everything I got to learn and the people that helped me get there. I am so excited to take these skills with me into my future career in PR and will always look back on my time at JMG PR with nothing but appreciation and positive memories. Thank you to everyone on the JMG team, who truly made this the best experience I could have asked for!
