Intern Diary: Allysa

Starting my fall internship with JMG PR, I felt a mix of excitement and nerves. I knew this opportunity would push me further into the world of public relations, but I also wondered how I’d juggle everything during the busiest stretch of my senior year. I’d always heard great things about agency life, and I was eager to finally get a real look at it.

Coming in as a PR major with a love for social media, I wasn’t sure where I would fit or what tasks would align best with my strengths.

My first few weeks were filled with creating Instagram story posts, drafting content ideas, and researching for various clients. After testing out different responsibilities, my account executives, Arcely and Alexandra, helped me discover where I thrive. Their guidance shaped my role and allowed me to use and grow the skills I brought into this internship.

This being only my second college internship, I’m grateful for how much I was able to build upon. I strengthened habits I’ll carry into my career and worked alongside interns who inspired and supported me. I’m proud of the projects I contributed to, and it was rewarding to see what I’ve learned in the classroom translate directly into real work for a real agency.

Even though the internship was fully remote, the sense of community was real. Our daily “Sip the Tea” calls became a space to connect, whether we were swapping pop culture updates, favorite recipes, or weekend plans. It made the work feel lighter and reminded me that I was part of a team of driven women who shared similar interests and professional ambitions.

As I wrap up my time at JMG, I’m incredibly grateful they took a chance on me. Before this internship, I wasn’t sure whether I saw myself at an agency or in-house post-grad. This experience brought clarity. With the feedback, skills, and lessons I’ve learned, I feel more confident stepping into the PR world and excited about what comes next.

I’m thankful for my mentors, the friendships I’ve made, and the community I now get to be part of. JMG helped open new doors for me, and I can’t wait to follow where they lead.
