Intern Diary: Lily
Cheers to my second semester completed at JMG! Since my fall 2025 internship experience at JMG was so wonderful, I decided to come back for one more! I first heard about JMG through a classmate that shared her positive experience, and I decided to apply. Everyday, I am so grateful that I decided to take the leap of faith into applying for my first PR internship position.
Before this position, I questioned whether I was capable or smart enough to meet what was expected of me.
Now, I realize I couldn’t have been more wrong. I’ve made accomplishments and contributed work to JMG I never thought I would be able to as an undergraduate student. I’ve made accomplishments and contributed work to JMG I never thought I would be able to as an undergraduate student. JMG has helped me realize that media relations and earned media are PR areas that I’d like to focus on, and I want to keep growing in an area I’ve found both challenging and incredibly rewarding.
My favorite skill I developed during the internship is strategic pitch writing and research. I’ve always felt an instinctive pull toward writing, even from my earliest days in school. The opportunity to take a concept and translate it into a piece that meaningfully influences people’s perceptions or actions is a skill that has become increasingly important to me. Over time, that interest has grown into a deeper sense of purpose. I wanted my internship to create an atmosphere for this ability to grow, and that’s exactly what JMG gave me. I had several opportunities to take something newsworthy or technical and translate it into a story that felt human, accessible, and intentional for different audiences.
The people I’ve met and made relationships with are undeniably the best result of this experience. Cara has supported me in more ways than I could ever ask for, with her constructive feedback, humor, and support. We made a great team in producing work for our clients. Moving forward, I know Cara is someone I can count on for any advice and support as I navigate my professional journey. Further, our team-wide “Sip the Tea” calls were an additional opportunity to get to learn more about my colleagues, which invited for great discussion, laughs, and bonding. Looking back, it’s those small, shared moments that made the experience feel so special. Most significantly, this experience has had a lasting impact on my growth, both personally and professionally. Thank you JMG!
